The sad truth is, not all things are beautiful.

Typically I blog about the beauty I find in the world.  But if you are an American, the racial tension sifting to the surface this summer is breathtaking.  My heart breaks for how far we still have to go.

Making beauty out of pain is one way artists cope with reality.  Here’s an amazing short story by ZZ Packer that does just that and highlights the racial divide.
