A recent visit to Siena

Since the heat of the summer has abated, I’ve wanted to spread my wings and visit all kinds of places in Italy that I had to put on hold for Covid and summer heat.

I paid a great visit to Mantova and will be posting about it soon.

Last week, I stole away for a day and took the bus to Siena. You can also go by train from Florence, but the bus is better because it deposits you in the heart of the city rather than on the outskirts, where the train depot is found.

Here are some quick pix of my recent excursion. I’m so glad I went a week ago today! As of this week, we aren’t supposed to leave our home cities, thanks to Covid.

The Uffizi, a casual October Sunday visit

Last Sunday I paid a casual visit to the Uffizi.  After decades of only having the privilege of visiting the Uffizi on very special and occasional trips to Italy, I always get the feeling that going to the Uffizi is an extremely special event. And, it is, of course!

But, now that I have the incredible privilege of living here, now that Covid has abated enough to let us at least go to museums for the moment, I want to start making my visits to the Uffizi rather more casual.  I want it to feel as friendly as a good friend’s home.

To that end, here are my recent pictures from a casual, hour long visit.

I’m still not happy with the formatting of my blog now that WordPress has made so many weird changes. But, I keep trying. Bear with me, please. I hope to eventually get back to the look I like.

A message to my readers

About 6 weeks ago, WordPress, the host of my blog, changed everything and I have been struggling ever since to write even a basic blog with photos. I have complained to the company; I have attempted to write my posts from different servers, different devices, and cannot find anything that works. Over the next few weeks, I will be trying to locate a better host company, because I am completely frustrated with this site.

I apologize. I can’t maintain my former enjoyment of posting.
