Like daylight, the color green can have an uplifting effect. As early as the 12th century, Saint Hildegard of Bingen used the Latin word veriditas to describe the calming and healing power that she recognized in the color green. She called it “greening power” and likened its rejuvenating spiritual effect to the power of creativity.

My yard is greener than it’s been since early spring. The green works magic on my mood.
