It’s important to do your stretching at home

Wisteria update
I was able to walk down to the passerella near my house yesterday to see how the wisteria is progressing. Nicely, I would say!
I had posted pictures about a week ago here.

In Italy right now…
Dogs can go outside, and sometimes take people with them. The tables have turned!

There’s no place like home!

Pesce d’aprile
In America, we say “April fool’s!”
In Italy, we say “Pesce d’aprile” or April Fish.
Why?
I’m told the name comes from a common joke that involves sticking a drawing of a pesciolino (little fish) onto the back of an unsuspecting victim. Then, everyone else asks if anyone has seen “April’s fish” and makes jokes about that person – when, of course, the victim doesn’t know it’s them.
L’hai visto? (Have you seen him/her?)
Chi? (Who?)
Il pesce d’Aprile! (The April fish!)

Goodbye Tomie de Paola

My son and I loved de Paola’s books and had the privilege of meeting him once. I will always treasure his signature next to his illustration of Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. He looked at me at the book signing and said, “oh, you know this painting?” and I smiled and nodded. RIP.
