The galleries (arcades) of the Palais-Royal

The six-storey buildings that surround the gardens on three sides have galleries on the ground floor containing shops and restaurants The garden galleries were constructed 1781–1784 to the designs of the Victor Louis. On the west side is the Montpensier Gallery, on the north, the Beaujolais Gallery, and to the east, the Valois Gallery. Traversing the south side of the garden are two parallel colonnades, remnants of the former covered Galerie d’Orléans (demolished in 1930). They stand between the Court of Honor and the garden.

I was last in Paris in April of 2022 and took these shots. I am only now getting my posts posted. Bad, bad girl. Sorry. But, never late than never. I am itching to get back to Paris soon!

March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day

Never forget that we stand on the shoulders of so many amazing women. This picture is just a light-hearted reminder that they did it in corsets and leather soled shoes on ice. If you give it some thought, you’ll recognize they did that and a whole lot more. Thanks to all these brave women ancestors.

In Florence they will be celebrating today with sprigs of bright yellow blossomed mimosa.

I am a stalker of beauty

These crocus aren’t growing in my garden, but in someone else’s in my neighborhood. I stalk beauty wherever I find it.

But then, of course, I don’t live here full time and many of my original garden plantings have died over the years I was living in Italy. It was a tough trade-off, but I made the right decision!

I adore the periwinkle blue of the vinca ground cover. And I like the name “periwinkle.”

Spring is slow to arrive in Denver and March is our snowiest month. It necessary that I stalk beauty whenever and wherever I can. Thanks for understanding me.
