How did it happen that the Denver Art Museum received major art works from Mrs. Simon Guggenheim?
If you’ve been following my posts recently, you’ve seen me share quite a few artworks from the Denver Art Museum and many of them were donated to the museum by Mrs. Simon Guggenheim.

A beautiful Degas pastel, The Dance Examination, 1880
When I think of the Denver Art Museum, this is one of the works I immediately recall. I have loved it since I first saw it when I was at university. Later, when I was the Gates Foundation Curator of Paintings and Sculpture at the museum, I gazed at this pastel often and fondly.
I still love it!
