Autumn

On my way to Mantua, the birthplace of the Renaissance (?)!
For a long weekend of discovery!

I’ve been misinformed! I always thought Florence was where the Renaissance was born. I guess it depends on your point of view, as with everything else in life!

Hurray for the Mellon Foundation!
Change is happening

The annual fall plant sale, Florence
This is my favorite time of year and the annual fall plant sale is always a highlight. This year, despite a rainy day and Covid, was no exception. Here are highlights from yesterday!

Fall, leaves, fall
Fall, Leaves, Fall
Emily Brontë
Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

Hold on to my hand
“Hold on to what is good, even if it is a handful of earth. Hold on to what you believe, even if it is a tree which stands by itself. Hold on to what you must do, even if it is a long way from here. Hold on to life, even when it is easier letting go. Hold on to my hand, even when I have gone away from you.” Nancy Wood
